Its innovative limestone construction and wooden water wheels showcase cutting-edge engineering at the time. The mills skilled workers lived on site, forming a close-knit community that shared daily life together. Although operation ceased in 1875, Marine Mill has been preserved as a testament to Americas industrial heritage and is open for tours during summer months.
