Imagine yourself stepping back in time as we take a journey through Lincoln City Cultural Center. Located at the heart of the city, this center stands as a testament to the rich history and vibrant arts scene that defines this coastal gem on the Oregon Coast. Founded over 25 years ago, it calls the historic DeLake School building its home – a place where time seems to have slowed down but the energy of creativity pulses with every brush stroke, potters wheel spin, or camera click.
As we enter this haven for arts and culture, you might feel an air of inclusivity and celebration surrounding you, reflecting the center’s mission to promote cultural awareness in its community. The unique attribute that sets it apart from others is its public ceramics studio - the only one in north Lincoln County! Here, under Jen Donnells guidance, budding potters can experiment with wheels, rollers, glazes, and an array of tools at their disposal.
The center isn’t just about clay, though. It boasts a rich tapestry of art forms including glass art, sculpture, paintings, and photography across multiple studios and galleries scattered throughout Lincoln City. One such gem is the Scott-Edwards Architects designed gallery, which offers 570 square feet of pristine display space for local artists to showcase their masterpieces.
But theres more to this place than just its stunning art collection. Its location at the 45th parallel and bounded by Devils Lake and the Coast Range tells a story of five small communities coming together to form what is now Lincoln City. This melting pot of cultures and traditions adds layers of depth and diversity to the arts scene here.
In fact, in January 2017, history was made when the first public art installation dedication took place at the Cultural Center. An event like this underscores not only the importance of art but also the role of such centers in fostering community engagement and pride.
So join us on this tour through the Lincoln City Cultural Center - a beacon of creativity, heritage, and unity nestled amidst the beautiful backdrop of the Oregon Coast.
