Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Original Location is nestled in Buxton, North Carolina, USA. Built in 1870, its a towering symbol of Americas maritime past. Situated at the southern tip of Hatteras Island, one of the Outer Banks, this lighthouse was designed to warn ships away from dangerous waters and guide them safely to harbor.

Standing 210 feet (64 meters) tall, it was once the tallest brick lighthouse in the world. Its black-and-white spiral stripes are instantly recognizable, even from miles out at sea. Inside, visitors can ascend 248 steps to reach the lantern room, where an original Fresnel lens continues to shine its light over the ocean waves.

However, this iconic structure faced a significant threat in the late twentieth century. Due to erosion threatening its foundation, it was moved 2,900 feet (884 meters) inland by a team of engineers and movers in just under 24 days in 1999.
