Bicycle Statue

The Bicycle Statue, popularly known as Will B. Rolling, is an iconic 30-foot tall fiberglass monument situated along the Great River Trail by the Mississippi River in Port Byron, Illinois. This larger-than-life representation of an old-timey bicyclist on a Penny Farthing (a high-wheel bicycle common during the late 19th century) was unveiled to the public in November 2013 as part of an endeavor to create a distinctive landmark for cyclists and visitors alike. The installations event is now celebrated through the annual Will2Ben bicycling tour, a grueling 300-mile bike ride stretching from Port Byron to Sparta, Wisconsin. This fascinating piece of public art not only beautifies the area but also fosters a sense of community among cyclists and locals who share an appreciation for this distinctive symbol of American history. Its towering presence along the riverbank invites visitors to imagine themselves on that old-timey Penny Farthing, pedaling through time.
