Angeles National Forest Sign

The Angeles National Forest Sign is a historical landmark in Los Angeles County, California. Located at 5884-5888 Angeles Crest Scenic Bywy, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011, the sign marks the beginning of the segment from La Cañada Flintridge to the Los Angeles–San Bernardino county line known as the Angeles Crest Scenic Byway. Sitting at an elevation of 5,280 feet, this area is nestled in a breathtaking part of the Angeles National Forest and offers free admission for visitors.

The Center serves as an introduction to the San Gabriel Mountains and the surrounding national forest. La Cañada Flintridge lies between the San Gabriel Mountains and the forest itself, covering approximately 700,00 acres and providing a backyard playground for more than 18 million people in the Greater Los Angeles Area.

Angeles Crest Highway (SR-2) passes through the protected San Gabriel Mountains National Monument, with this portion of the road described as mountain-rural. The forest was created by proclamation on December 20, 1892, by President Benjamin Harrison, making it the first national forest in California.
