Silverhill Kids Park

Welcome to Silverhill Kids Park, located in the charming town of Silverhill, Alabama. Although the park itself is a modern establishment, its surroundings are steeped in rich history dating back to the 19th century. Silverhill was founded in 1897 by a group of Swedish immigrants led by Oscar Johnson, C.O. Carlson, and C.A. Valentin. These pioneers were drawn to Baldwin County by the promise of fertile land and a mild climate. They established the Svea Land Company to facilitate the settlement of Scandinavian immigrants in the area.

The town of Silverhill quickly grew as settlers arrived from all over the United States. They brought with them their rich cultural heritage and established a community that cherished education and commerce. In 1902, the People’s Supply Company opened its doors, serving as the primary source for dry goods and agricultural needs for decades. This historic general store is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

As you enjoy the park, imagine the early days of Silverhill, when families would gather at the local schoolhouse, originally built by the settlers themselves. The town’s commitment to education continues today, with Silverhill Elementary School serving the community’s youngest residents. The park you are visiting is a testament to the town’s dedication to providing spaces for family and community activities, reflecting the values instilled by its founders.

Over the years, Silverhill has evolved from a bustling settlement into a peaceful residential community. It remains a proud part of the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley metropolitan area, offering residents and visitors a glimpse into its unique past while enjoying the beauty and tranquility of the present.
