This vision materialized into the Trails Lake Development Corp., and the project was initially named ‘Lake Saint Louis.’ However, financial difficulties plagued the early developers, leading to a foreclosure in 1966.
Enter R.T. Crow, a visionary investor who saw more than just a weekend retreat. Inspired by the concept of planned communities, Crow took over the project and transformed the vision into a new town. He laid the groundwork for what would become a thriving city, with the St. Charles County approving the preliminary plan in 1967. By 1969, the smaller Lake Sainte Louise and several community amenities, including golf courses and a clubhouse, were established.
In 1975, Lake Saint Louis was officially incorporated, providing a new framework for growth and development. The name was retained, and it marked the beginning of its journey as a full-fledged city.
