History Park Tonasket & Community Pool

Welcome to History Park Tonasket & Community Pool, a vibrant piece of Tonasket’s community fabric. Nestled in the heart of Tonasket, Washington, this park is not just a space for recreation but a living testament to the town’s rich history and community spirit. The park began its journey on a significant day—Veterans Day, November 11, 2009—when the formal groundbreaking took place. This date was chosen to honor veterans from across the United States, and the park serves as a memorial to those who have served in the armed forces.

The U.S. Armed Forces Legacy Association, a dedicated non-profit group, spearheaded the efforts to raise funds for the memorial, ensuring that the park would be a place of reflection and gratitude. By 2010, thanks to the tireless efforts of volunteers, the park was completed. It stands adjacent to the Tonasket Visitors and Business Resource Center, City Hall, and the Police Station, making it a central hub for the community.

History Park is not just about remembrance; it’s a dynamic space for families and children. The community pool, a highlight of the park, was built in 2017 by a committed group of citizens with support from the newly founded Parks and Recreation District. The pool is a splash of fun for all ages, complemented by a skate park, pump track, soccer fields, and baseball fields. For those seeking a more tranquil experience, the park offers river access and a nature walk, inviting visitors to explore and connect with nature.

A unique feature of the park is its role as the site of the local Farmer’s Market, transforming it into a lively marketplace where the community comes together. The park also offers practical amenities like picnic tables, a shade shelter, bathrooms, and a playground for older children.

History Park Tonasket embodies the spirit of community, volunteerism, and respect for history. It’s a place where the past and present merge, offering both a tribute to the sacrifices of veterans and a lively space for community gatherings and activities.
