God’s Acre Healing Springs

Welcome to God’s Acre Healing Springs in Blackville, South Carolina, a site steeped in history and legend. This unique landmark is not just a place for refreshment but one of mystery and miracles dating back to the Revolutionary War. During this tumultuous period, it is said that four British soldiers, gravely wounded in battle, were miraculously healed by the waters of these springs. While the details of their recovery are somewhat murky, the story has endured, adding to the springs’ mystical reputation.

Originally, this land was inhabited by the Edisto Indians, who eventually sold it for a modest amount of corn. A testament to its cultural and spiritual significance, the Healing Springs Baptist Church was established nearby. In a remarkable act of foresight and respect for the land, the church decided against creating a graveyard on the property, ensuring the purity of the springs.

The area gained its divine designation in 1944 when L.P. ‘Lute’ Boylston, the property owner at the time, deeded one acre of this land to Almighty God. This act not only exempted the land from taxes but also placed it under the care of a higher power, emphasizing the spiritual nature of this site.

Today, God’s Acre Healing Springs remains a popular destination for those seeking the reputed healing powers of its waters. Visitors come from far and wide, filling their bottles with the continually flowing, mineral-rich water. Whether for its healing reputation or simply for its purity, the springs attract a diverse group of visitors, each bringing their own stories and hopes.

The springs are more than just a natural wonder; they’re a living piece of history that continues to captivate and inspire. So, as you stand at these springs, consider the centuries of stories and the countless lives that have been touched by these waters.
