Arthur’s passion for marine life and education was contagious, and he spent numerous summers engaging with the local community, including the Makah Tribe, to foster a love and understanding of the marine environment. His dream was to create a space where people could explore and appreciate the rich marine life of the region firsthand.
After years of collaboration with local service groups, grant writing, and advocacy, Arthur’s dream came to fruition. The Feiro Marine Life Center officially opened its doors on November 21, 1981, serving as a beacon of marine education and conservation. Sadly, Arthur passed away in early 1982, not living to see the center’s first summer season. However, his legacy lives on, and the center continues to thrive, supported by the Feiro family and a dedicated team of professionals.
