Welcome to Billings Productions, Inc., an intriguing hub of prehistoric imagination located in Allen, Texas. This establishment, affectionately known as The Dinosaur Company, has been thrilling audiences worldwide since its inception in 2003. Founded by Larry and Sandra Billings, the company began its journey in a converted warehouse in McKinney, Texas. The couple was driven by a mission to educate children about the fascinating realms of extinction, conservation, and the history of dinosaurs.
Larry Billings, a visionary in the field of animatronics, laid the groundwork for what would become the largest animatronic dinosaur company in North America. Unfortunately, after Larry’s passing in 2007, the torch was passed to Sandra Billings, who continued to propel the company forward with remarkable tenacity and vision.
In 2018, the Billings legacy was further cemented when their daughter, Lauren Billings, joined the enterprise as vice president. Lauren’s entry brought new energy and innovation, including the launch of educational programs tailored for schools, ensuring that the company’s commitment to education remained steadfast.
Over the years, Billings Productions has evolved from its humble beginnings to become an industry leader. The company is renowned for its life-size animatronic dinosaurs that captivate audiences in museums, theme parks, zoos, and aquariums across the globe. Each dinosaur is meticulously crafted by a dedicated team of artists and engineers, with all materials sourced within the United States, staying true to their ‘100% American made’ ethos.
A significant milestone in the company’s history was the construction of a modern 50,000-square-foot facility in Allen, Texas, which opened its doors in 2020. This new headquarters not only houses their impressive collection of 350 animatronic creatures but also serves as a community-oriented space for events and educational tours.
The story of Billings Productions is one of creativity, resilience, and a passionate dedication to education. It stands as a vibrant testament to the power of imagination and the enduring fascination with the prehistoric world.
