Plaster was a notable figure in Texas history, having manned one of the famous twin sister cannons in the Battle of San Jacinto, a pivotal event in Texas’ fight for independence from Mexico.
By the late 19th century, Bedias had grown into a thriving community, with a post office, multiple church congregations, and several schools. The arrival of the International-Great Northern Railroad in the early 20th century further spurred its development, turning Bedias into a bustling hub of commerce.
