Martin Moister purchased the 6-acre property at a time when the United States was experiencing rapid industrial growth and urbanization. With a vision to create a magical playground for his grandchildren, Moister constructed a Spanish-tiled mansion alongside another large home. The estate quickly became a playground paradise, featuring an elaborate castle-themed area complete with a swimming pond, side-by-side steel water slides, a hump-back bridge over the pool, a tiled grotto, and a spring spillway.
One of the most intriguing aspects of the Moister Estate is its use of more than 2,000 rare ceramic tiles from Henry Mercer’s Moravian Tile Works in nearby Doylestown. These tiles added a touch of artistic elegance to the playground, making it a standout attraction even to this day. Moister also built a watch tower for guests to observe the fun, ensuring that the estate was not only a place of play but also one of spectacle.
